Is it safe to use two different brands of acne medication at times?

I'm currently using Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash and something completely different my clinic doctor gave me as a prescription at usually both in one day. Is it safe and are there side effects? Is it safe to use two different brands of acne medication at times?
I think Neutrogena has salicylic acid in it, which is generally mild, as opposed to benzoyl peroxide which can dry out the skin... As a general rule, using different products runs the risk of overly dry skin and more irritation, but everyone's skin reacts differently. As long as you don't strip your skin of its natural oils too much, and your skin seems to be generally healthy, I don't think there's much to worry about. Is it safe to use two different brands of acne medication at times?
it might break you out more or dry out and irritate your skin
That would have been a good question for your dermatologist that prescribed you the other product. Call your doctor but I am pretty sure the answer is that it should be fine unless the stuff you were given is very drying to your skin.
i don't know. you should ask your doctor or someone if it's safe to use both. use one to be safe :DDD
It shouldn't hurt but just to be safe talk to ur doctor or pharmacist
I don't think that your being to risky. but I would be careful if I was you %26amp; consult with a Dr. Using to many things on your face can irritate it causing redness, dryness, or it could just make things worse.
it makes me peel...so i would say stick to one chicka :D
I would not do that because you can get your skin very dry and make it worse!!!!
i read on the label of my acne wash that to use two different acne removers might increase irritation of skin, so if i were u i'd use one at a time.
i`m not a doctor... lol but i think its okay. I've used 2 at the same time before but you should read the labels on it. i wouldn't be too worried but if u notice any peeling, itchyness, or other irritations you should stop. [obvious i know]
I'm not a doctor or anything but i think to much for your face
I'm a pharmacist and No , don't use them together unless the doctor told you to

It really depends on what he gave you for a prescription

OTC products and RX products can contain alcohol and too much use can really dry out your skin too much

Also to be honest (and this isn't always the case)

Most Rx only products are better most particular conditions effectiveness wise than their OTC counterparts
usually, it says on the label whether or not it is safe to use with different medications. but to be safe, ask your doctor.
i dont know.. maybe it will dry out or irritate your skin.
Check with the ingredients on the label. THe thing with the stuff from your doctor is that it may take a while but it will for sure work. Don't try to rush it by using both medicines and chance damaging your skin. Damaged skin will be withyou for life. If all else fails, call your doctor, that's why they get paid.

Read the labels, or ask your Dr.!
You need to talk to your doctor about that sometimes there can be adverse reactions depending on the formulation of the medications. You should always consult your physician before mixing Meds.
