I would like to hear personal experiences ones have had with the acne medication Accutane?

I do not have severe, nodular, or scarring acne, but I am in my late twenties and have not had one completely clear day since I hit puberty. I always have little to big breakouts, and extremely oily skin. I would like to hear personal experiences with this drug. It sounds like it's really effective, does anyone regret going through this treatment? Right now I use Pro Activ, which keeps my acne at bay, but does not get rid of it completely.I would like to hear personal experiences ones have had with the acne medication Accutane?
try antibiotics first, i took different antibiotics for two years, one of them ended up working temporary but i was young so the acne came back.

I highly do not recommend accutance for your case. i used accutane for 8 month had not much side effects however from my research online people like sometimes experience vitamin A toxicity which is very very dangerous. i do not think its worth it.

talk about antibiotics with your doctor.

good luckI would like to hear personal experiences ones have had with the acne medication Accutane?
I was on accutane when i was a teen...about...6 years ago. I had amazing results...im still clear...

but it was a last result drug for me...i tried every other medication the doctors could think of, and nothing worked. My experience was a lot better than others i know of. There are a lot of side effects, the only i struggled with was dry skin, EVERYWHERE. i would get rashes from my purse...the corners of my mouth were cracked. It was awful. And the blood/preg tests each month werent fun. After i finished, my skin was AMAZING. then about 6 months later...i started to break out a bit...and they put me on antibotics for a short while...and it has been clear ever since. im also an aesthetician and take great care of my skin.

You should really get off pro-activ. its main ingredient is benz. and thats supposed to be used as spot treatment. Its too harsh to be used all the time. It ends up breaking down your skins barrier function(what keeps good things in, and bad things out). So your skin can become very irritated.

i would suggest something like...obagi nuderm. its harsh and expensive...but very worth it. you can get it at a doctor...or some medical spas carry it!!

accutane worked wonders for me...but i dont think its for everyone. talk to you derm. about it...and try some other things first...before accutane. it wasnt the worst 6 months of my life...but it also wasnt the best.
