Can your skin build an immunity to your acne medication?

I had been using the same medication for about 2 years and last week it stoped working. It was Duac something, and i had been increasing my topical doseage for quite a while. Did i build an immunity to it?Can your skin build an immunity to your acne medication?
I think that it might be able to, anything can make any sort of medication or fight against a certain sickness or disease. The little cells that prevent any sickness adapt to whatever is being used to fight against them...So eventually they get immune to it. Hope I helped!! :)
