Is it bad if you dont wash your face before using acne medication?

will it be ineffective if i dont? or counter productive as in WILL IT MAKE IT WORSE IF I DONT?Is it bad if you dont wash your face before using acne medication?
I think you should wash your face first before applying anything. Cleansing will take away the dirt in your skin and cleanse your pores as well,so it will be more effective if you do,I believe. Is it bad if you dont wash your face before using acne medication?
It depends on the type of acne. Talk to a dermatologist. But what worked for me was tanning. 5 minutes in a tanning bed three times a week took care of most of my acne, especially on the back, chest, and shoulders. my dermatologist prescribed differin gel for my face and it worked to.
It does depend on the type of acne, but some kinds occur when your pores get clogged and infected. Acne involves your pores a lot so if you open up your pores by washing your face then it will work a lot better. Acne medication doesn't work as well for me if I don't was my face or steam my pores.
i think it might work better if you do, wash it with a face wash or i guess soap if you have nothing at all, and use warm water to open your pores so it can get all the dirt and oil out of your skin, and then apply the acne medication on your clean skin
no it shouldn't (i dont ALWAYS n i haven't had any problems... i just do if i have the time) but u should do, just to be on the safe side :)

hope i helped :) x x
well it wont work as well because it wont be able to get down into your pores.

if you wash it, then it works better.

Should my prescription acne medication be burning?

My dermatologist prescribed me a combination of benzoyl peroxide and clyndamycin to use at night. (I use differin during the day). But I just put on the night medication and its burning a lot and red. I just started this medication a couple of days ago, so is it just because my skin is getting used to it, or is my skin not supposed to be having this reaction?Should my prescription acne medication be burning?
Yup. its suppose to have a little stinging and irrataion. I use the same thing as you, but i stopped with the benzoyle preoxide because it really dried up my face. Dont put a lot of it, use a thin layer.Should my prescription acne medication be burning?
I would call and ask the dermatologist. I used to be on prescription acne medications and mine told me to cut back on one.

Can a General Practitioner prescribe Acne Medication?

I have an appointment tomorrow with a GP b/c my dermatologist is booked til mid October. Can a General Practitioner prescribe Acne Medication?
The GP is a very good initial source for acne medication. Most acne cases can be very well managed by the GP... I would only see the dermatologist if the GP tried a couple of meds without relief (as you've noted, you have to wait a very long time to get into the dermatologist and the friendly local GP is just as good for all but the toughest cases of acne). Can a General Practitioner prescribe Acne Medication?
Yes absolutely, that's what they are there for. Acne can be embarrassing at the best of times. I would try going into a site called Epinions.com and find out what users are saying about various products. Good hygene which involves regular bathing helps a lot. Good internal health is a major contributor to healthy skin. Consider going to see a wholistic health professional, they have some great supplements. Try and stay away from the junk foods. I鈥檝e also had good luck with a product called Acnezine. Below are a couple of articles I found you might find helpful. All the best!

I don't have a problem with acne, but it seems to have great results on my sister who has moderate to severe acne. Her acne swelling went away overnight.

Can Zyrtec allergy medicine be taken with Minocycline acne medication?

there should be no conflict with those two. The one is for bacterial infection and the other basically to shrink the blood vessels and lower the nasal reaction to histamines. Two different things.

Can your skin build an immunity to your acne medication?

I had been using the same medication for about 2 years and last week it stoped working. It was Duac something, and i had been increasing my topical doseage for quite a while. Did i build an immunity to it?Can your skin build an immunity to your acne medication?
I think that it might be able to, anything can make any sort of medication or fight against a certain sickness or disease. The little cells that prevent any sickness adapt to whatever is being used to fight against them...So eventually they get immune to it. Hope I helped!! :)

Is it normal to break out more after you start use acne soap or any other acne medication . thnx?

If you have normal skin, yes. I have normal skin that sometimes breaks out, and once such time it was breaking out more than usual I went and used acne products, and it made the acne much, much worse. Instead of just having two pimples, I had them all over my face. When I quit using it, all the pimples went away.Is it normal to break out more after you start use acne soap or any other acne medication . thnx?
Depeding o skin typeIs it normal to break out more after you start use acne soap or any other acne medication . thnx?
typically acne gets worse before it gets better.

It took me the longest time to find out that I had sensitive skin, and that acne soap really irritated my skin and made me break out worse.

Try just a mild facial soap, like cetaphil or phisoderm. I went through a phase where I used body soap (Dove, Carress) for my face because a friend told me it worked for her.

What do you think is the best acne medication that does not dry too much?

I have combination skin. Its mostly oily, but sometimes it can get painfully dry in some spotsWhat do you think is the best acne medication that does not dry too much?
There is no best overall medication for all people. I suggest you do an overall 'good skin health' regimen. This would include caring for your skin twice daily: cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize. After you exfoliate, apply the specialized products that your skin needs (acne treatment gel, etc.) Then be sure to moisturize. Alot of times, having acne makes us think we don't need moisture. But the opposite is true. Apply a moisturizer so your skin doesn't work overtime. In the meantime, drink tons of water to cleanse your system. You might even check with a health food store on good vitamins. Control your stress level. When I try new products, I like to try one for a few days, then add the next. This way I know which product (or action) made the most difference. Good luck! What do you think is the best acne medication that does not dry too much?
Shea butter has soothing, moisturizing and protecting effects. Due to the presence of a sizeable quantity of unsaponifiable fats, its content in vitamins and other active elements, Shea butter adds other more precise activities to these general properties. It displays a protecting role against UV rays because of its content in cinnamic acid and can thus be incorporated in solar products. The natural latex contained in Shea butter would moreover prevent certain sun allergies. Shea butter also helps cell regeneration and capillary circulation. This favors the healing of small wounds, skin cracks and crevices, and skin ulcers. In the cosmetic field, this property is an asset against skin aging. It has restructuring effects on the epidermis, also on dry and fragile hair. Dry skin, dermatitis, dermatoses, eczema, sun burn, and burns are all helped by natural Shea butter. It has an anti-elastics characteristic which makes it a good active ingredient against stretch marks. Shea butter can also be used to treat rheumatism and aching muscles, and to ease colds because it decongests nasal mucous tissues. It is very well tolerated by the skin for it does not normally trigger any allergic reaction and can even be used on very sensitive skin areas such as mucous tissues and around the eyes.
The products you are using, are they salycic acid or benzolyl peroxide? BP can be VERY drying. I personally like SA better. Almost all washes have it. They try finding a face lotion with it in it. Clean and clear has a good moisturizer with SA and it helps keep pimples at bay. Personally, I use Biore products (which you get over the counter. Their products range from $5-$10). They are harsh on pimples, but not on your face. I think you will just need to experiment with products until you find what works for you. Remember, it can take 1 month for products to fully begin working!

I really like clinique's 3-step system. It is for all skin types (oily, combination and dry) and doesn't dry out skin. There is a foaming cleanser with salacilic acid as the active ingredient, a clarifing lotion (toner) with salacilic acid as the active ingredient, and a clearing moisturizer with benzoil peroxide as the active ingredient. It is very gentle, but works wonders! You can get it from a clinique store (often inside department stores) or on this website: http://www.clinique.com/templates/products/multiproduct.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY4913%26amp;cm_sp=topnavs-_-skincare-_-Acne

Acne medication for those allergic to benzoyl peroxide?

I am a teenager who needs help for acne medication. I am allgeric to benzoyl peroxide so I can not use ProActiv or Nature's Cure. Are there any wellknown acne products that work that do not contain benzoyl peroxide? Thanks.

Hi I have tried Retin A cream, micro, Proactiv and OTC benzoyl peroxide they are all horrible. Ask your doctor/dermatologist for prescription DIFFERIN GEL it is really great. In about three weeks your skin will be really clear and if you put in on at night after washing you will notice that in the morning any spots aren't as red. I didn't have all the horrible drying and peeling associated with Retin A or Benzoyl Peroxide. It also prevents wrinkles I was told. I am over 25 and have been using it for like 7 years it's great...I have clean clear skin and I always get told I look way younger than I am and that's a bonus! Give it a try and good luck ;-)Acne medication for those allergic to benzoyl peroxide?
if you are allgeric to BP then consider using herbal treatments.

Retin A is really the best.

Go to the dermatologist or doctor to get a perscription.

ony spot treat, don't put it on your entire face.

If you can't afford it, go to the county hospital and get a generic brand, it works well.
maybe this one, it says it's all natural http://www.acne-control.biz
I use Tea Tree Oil, you can find it at your local Bath and Bodyworks. It works very fast, and it's all natural.
Many drugstore brand products like Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, etc. contain salicylic acid, rather than benzoyl peroxide, which is the main fighting ingredient for acne in those brands.
They are actually MANY other types of medication that does not contain BP.

Okay personally, I recommend T3 (Tea Tree).

It's natural and doesn't damage your skin, and it's really hard to get allergic to NATURAL stuff, right? =)
Try a gentle herbal face wash and acne gel. This site has has great info
Doxycycline - also used as an anti-malarial. ask your doctor

Also, i read somewhere that they were doing some research on shark bile to fight against acne (true).....just a thought
Use Salicylic products. Try Neutrogena. The scrub and mask in this brand is the best.
    glycolic peels...so i hear
I would try witch hazel it is gentle and deep cleaning about three

to four times a day it also helps to control oily areas
Have you tried using mineral makeup (if you wear makeup!).

It doesn't irritate the skin and can be calming to your skin.

You should see a dermatologist. I also had moderate acne, so i didn't think that it was bad enough to see a doctor about, but no store product worked for me. And if you're starting to get scars, then that's just another reason why you should go to a derm, before the scars just get worse. I have used proactiv and acnexus and a number of other products. I'm 30 yrs old now and I still break out and I'm tired of it. I use Biore's triple action toner. I won't recommend much facial washes because most of the ones I tried sucks.

When I first used the toner, it cleared up my face in 3 days. I'm done using it now, and I MUST try a new toner, says my mother, but after I try all kinds of toners, I will return to Biore's toner. No, it will not prevent you from getting any more acne, but it will help you cure it.

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

Has anyone been put on the acne medication Accutane?

What side effects did you experience? Did you have any mood changes?Has anyone been put on the acne medication Accutane?
no mood changes, just dry chapped lips and my hair went very thin and wasn't a very good condition :)Has anyone been put on the acne medication Accutane?
I did the full course of RoAccutane, Im not sure what the difference is but its prescribed for the same conditions and has the same effects and side effects, so im guessing its pretty much the same drug.

Let me start by saying that before the treatment my skin condition was terrible, and it made me FEEL terrible. Six months after beginning the treatment my skin was as clear as water and as soft as a babies bottom, as they say. However during the course of the treatment, the dry skin I experienced was dreadful, I came up in horrible rashes all over my shoulders and arms, which I eventually had to invest in a fungus cream to control. I also had chapped lips and dry skin all over my face.

Probably the worst side effect I and (according to my own research) many, many other male subjects to this drug experienced is erectile dysfunction, which had me very worried when I came off the course as the problem persisted for about a year. Two years on now thought and thankfully, all is fine, but the same cannot be said for other people I have read about on the web.

The depression is easy to manage if your strong minded and visualise what your going to look like after the treatment. This is a very strong drug which deffinitely does what its supposed to do, and if you can handle the side effects is deffinitely worth taking the treatment :-)
was on it 15 years ago, had no mood changes, but just really dry lips and skin. those are the main ones I remember.
im on my fifth month, my last :)

but i experienced VERY dry skin and VERY chapped lips.

those two are the garunteed side effects.

always moisturize and always always carry chapp stick with you

i had one more side effect and that was back pain, but i had that before i started, the accutane just made it worse.

i had no mood changes or anything like that but i will tell you it really works and its really worth it.

im clear all over now and i love it!!

    good luck :)

I don't think its safe... especially if you have acne... ACne reacts with chemicals and may grow bigger or you may get much more. Its like using cocoa butter on your face when you have acne it make the acne bumps grow. I know this because my doctoer told me this before.

Help my skin turned red after using acne medication?

Last night I used a small amount of erythromycin with benzoyl and when I woke up this morning, my face was completely red. However, it didn't hurt or itch that bad. And my face felt smooth when I washed it. I applyed a lot of moisturizer but now, it's still red. Is it supposed to be red after using this medication? How long will it take to heal? Should I continue using the medication? I applied moisturizer after taking a shower and it's kind of stinging slightly.Help my skin turned red after using acne medication?
I got the same problem when i use product with benzoyl preoxide ( we have sensitive skin that is why ). People who are ok with that chemical should not get red skin and their skin should not be itchy at all. I suggest you stop using it.. if you just use it maybe it will heal fast. Last time i use it for few weeks or months ( i forgot exactly how long) and it takes a long time to heal. Even though i stop using it my skin is still red. After using regular product (without any of that chemical) it still the same until i tried clinique (their 3 steps) i use the toner with pink color. The moisturizer is the best of all. After that my skin is not red anymore. My acne is minimize too... but you can't use it for too long. My acne start coming back again after few month (3 months i think...) of use. I have very sensitive, oily skin. I'm currently using Clearasil Ultra every morning when I wake up, and right before i go to bed. Yet, my face is still very oily. And I used proactiv, but the one time i didn't use it (I went to bed early and forgot), i broke out the next day. I don't want my skin to become extremly dependent. And I currently do not have a dermatologist. What are some good products I can use, that are affordable? What's the best acne medication out there?
I use mary kay products. They are a little more expensive but it is the best my skin has ever been. if you can't afford it maybe ask for it as a birthday/christmas giftWhat's the best acne medication out there?
I have been to many dermatoligists but I have learned that many OTC washes don't cure troublesome acne. I have found that YAZ birth control helps tremendously! I will get about 4 around the time of my cycle, but that's normal for most. I still use a face wash morning and night. I have Clean and Clear and it works very well. Everybody's acne is different so you may just have to keep trying things. and also the toothpaste trick does work.
proactiv dried out my skin. I've tried acnefree, it worked for a little while then my face got worse, it may work for you. I use cetaphil cleanser, and my face is less oily. and I also go to a dermatologist. that really helped me a lot. and depending (if you get one) some give out samples to see how different products work on your skin.
Actually, there is a VERY good treatment called ';Acne Free'; and it's about 20 dollars ( i think it might b on sale depending on where you live) and it's at wal greens. it works SO good and doesn't leave your skin oily! if you skip one night or day, you don't break out either!! good luck hope this helps!! :o)
don't use proactiv thats for sure- it works for about 2 months then your skin gets used to it and it just dries out and flakes. I use a similar product called clear zone from shoppers drug mart. It works well and doesn't severely dry my skin out. It's a good price too about $30
ive been trough every acne line.......and u know what will work and has been working well for me the past week........PHILOSOPHY';S HOPE IN A BOTTLE........thats the best title for it!!!!

my derm gave me a topical cream, but decided to try the hope in a bottle and it works better that the $50 topical cream, HOPE is bout $38 for 2 oz.......i got it in 5 payments in qvc.....it was a promotion.

try it you wont be disapointed i wish i had known sooner im a be 24 had acne since 15...ahhhh!!! but now im loving my results..
I too use Mary Kay products. I wash my face in the morning and at night. My skin is very oily and most products at the store don't work for me or dry my skin out.

    Everyday:

For acne, use Ance-Free. It's like Proactiv, but cheaper. You can get it at Wal-Mart, WalGreens, or places like that. Use as directed. You can buy the spot treatment that goes with it. Its called the Terimnator, and is a MIRACLE!! Be sure not to sqeeze, pop, an dpick at your pimples!! this cause bacteria to go from your fingers into the pimple, and makes it stay for another 7 days!! Cover with a medicated (salycilic acid or benyzol peroxide) concealer. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wash you face at night.. sleeping w/ make-up on ages your skin 14 days everytime you do it!! It adds up!!

    Twice a Week:

NO SCRUBS while you have pimples. It only irrates it. Try a acne peel (Loreal has one out, follow instructions) during breakouts. When your face clears up, use a scrub (I like St Ive's Medicated Apricot Scrub) after cleansing w/the Acne-Free Purifying Cleanser.. ITS GREAT!! After you use that, apply a mask (I use Nozema Citrus Clean Mask). Apply your Acne-Free toner and moisturizer after that. This will keep your pores free of bacteria and dead skin. Your face will be clear and smooth in no time!!What is the best over the counter acne medication?
use nature's cure, it really work.

it worked for me the time i used it. but it takes 4 weeks to get that clear skin!

What have you found to be the best acne medication?

I have mild acne and have been suffering with it for about a year. I have tried benzyclyn, dove soap, and tetracyclin. None of these seemed to work for me. I'm now just using a Nutregena Oil-Free acne wash, and am thinking about proactiv? Do any of you have any ideas? Thank youWhat have you found to be the best acne medication?
acne free is the best no doubtWhat have you found to be the best acne medication?
Use Proactiv. It is awesome. I use the 3 step process and then at night ever few days I put the refining mask on as a spot treatment. The mask is awesome and in the morning the pimple is almost gone. I have learned though that if you don't use it every day at least once a pimple will show up the next day.
Cetaphil is a great gentle cleanser. It is recommended by dermatologists. I like Neutrogena products.

ProActiv is ok. It's nothing great. Check out the active ingredient.

Prescriptives products are fantastic but pricey.

Why are you even using that crap? Get some unscented Dove soap and wash your face 1-3 times a day. That's all you need.Is it safe to use two different brands of acne medication at times?
First of all, to the girl that was wondering why you were using that ';crap';, not everyone can just use a natural soap 2 or 3 times a day and keep the acne at bay. It is sometimes hereditary. Anyway...

I would not use the two together. For one, you need to know if what the doc gave you is actually working, because if it doesn't, they can change your prescription to something that better suits you. You aren't going to know if you're mixing meds. This may take several times before you get the one that works for you. Secondly, if you mix medications together, it could backfire. I recently used two medications together under my eyes (for puffiness), and ended up with a chemical burn that didn't go away for a couple of weeks. It burned and didn't help to keep my eyes from looking puffy, as they were red, patchy, and swollen from the burn. Don't do it, it's not worth it. NOOOOOOOO!lol Hope this helps.

    Egg White Mask

This is simple and quite frugal. There have been many instances of people reporting excellent results from trying it.

What is it? Egg white. Simple egg white.

All you need to do is separate the yolk from the egg whites. Then whip the egg whites until it is nice and frothy. Apply it to your clean face (using clean hands). Leave on for approximately 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.

The result? Tightening of the skin, clearing of red spots.

Possible side effects? If you鈥檙e allergic to eggs, of course, avoid this one.
The only thing I can honestly tell you is to go on the internet and research different things to see what you think would help. You can try a dermatologist and see what works best for your skin because trying everything might have a bad effect on your skin. They might even be able to give you natural home remedies without all the chemicals. Good Luck.

I say proactive or nutrigena. Both have helped me tremendously. I looked like a whole new person.
Homemade acne treatment can involve the use of herbal treatments and other natural treatments that require fruits to be used.

You do have to make sure that the homemade acne treatment you take the help of is absolutely safe and is perfectly suitable for you. Treatment also always does not entail topical application, that is, you can effectively treat your case of acne by consuming substances that are conducive to your skin. Herbs such as aloe vera, calendula and chamomile may be applied if you get a mild bout of acne. A combination of herbs too can work wonders for you. Consumption of fruits helps keep acne at bay since toxins in the body get discharged easily. Yoghurt can also be of tremendous help, whether eaten or applied.

The first aspect of homemade acne treatment is the consumption of plenty of water after which comes avoiding of fatty and oily foods. Even processed foods are an absolute no-no for all those who want to prevent acne from happening. Everyday exercise, too, is a must if you do not want acne to be a part of your existence. Remember until you follow the basics of acne prevention no matter how much you try lotions and creams, results will keep on eluding you. A proper diet and good sleep are also necessary pre requisites. Speaking of diet, it is better if you can use sea salt instead of iodized salt in your food because iodine can actually increase your risk of getting acne.

Homemade acne treatment can take up a lot of your time but you can rest assured that it will lead to that pimple-free clear complexion you always wanted. With ingredients like apple, oatmeal, honey, lemon you can make exfoliates, masks and moisturizers that can help heal your skin naturally.
PORACTIVE IS THE BEST..MY BESTFRIEND USES IT AND HER FACE IS CLEAR OR U CAN WEAR MAKE UP THAT COVERS IT UP BUT M=NOT ANYMAKE UP BUT MIREAL MAKE UP..IT REALLY GOOD FOR THE SKIN..AND PROACTIVE WORKS IF U WANT TO GET RID OF IT..AND THE MIREAL AMKE UP IF U WANT TO MAKE UR SKIN FEEL BETTER AND GET THE ACNE TO NOT BE SEEN BUT WHEN U WASH UR FACE THE ACNE WILL STILL BE THERE....ALSO WASH UR FACE WITH SOAP EVERY DAY IT HELPS..
Dr. Murad鈥檚 Acne Complex says that 3 simple steps, 2 times a day can reduce and clear your skin in 4 weeks. Seeing the popularity of Acne Complex one can understand that Acne Complex is certainly effective.

    Acne medication??

I'm breaking out left and right and it's driving me insane!!! Does ne1 kno a really good acne medication that actually works?? Hopefully u'd answer from experience but all responses r welcomed.Acne medication??
    Yes, I have experience.

First, start with the products you do use. Have you added anything to your arsenal recently that could be causing the problem? Are you overstripping. Only use one acne product at a time. I fell into this trap before. You could be stripping your skin of all of its oil, resulting in over-production, which equals more acne. Prevention is better than treatment. Trust me. I have much less of an issue when I take proper care of my skin in the first place!

Here is what works for me:

    1. Cetaphil facial cleanser (recommended by my dermatologist) for am and pm use. Make sure to wash twice a day.

    2. Make sure you exfoliate at least once a week. This removes dead skin cells that can clog pores.

    3. Use ';cleaner'; make-up. I love my Bare Essentuals, it doesn't clog my pores.

    4. Use a gentle moisturizer in the am.

    5. Add an acne product designed for your particular issue. Blackheads? Try Clean %26amp; Clear's astringent for blackheads. For traditional acne the products are endless, you may have to try a few before you get the one that works best for you. Oh, and if you want to use an acne wash, only use it once a day. Use a gentle cleanser, such as cetephil, for the second wash of the day.

For my acne, I got a cream from my dermatologist. It is called Differin and is very affordable. If you can't get it under control with a good regimine and over-the-counter products, consult your dermatologist.Acne medication??

It depends how much money you're willing to spend.

Clean %26amp; Clear, Biore %26amp; Neutrogena are good if you can't spend a lot and if you're not used to breaking out often.

I'd recommend Proactiv or seeing a doctor/dermatologist if you actually have a recurring acne problem.
Go to a dermatologist and they will know what is best for your skin, I tried for years to get rid of my acne and then went to a dermatologist and got some real medication and my skin is doing so well, keep on trying though, i know how it feels...
I use this and it works great for me and its home made too and really cheap to do.

    Aspirin Mask:

    crush 5-6 aspirins into powder

    add a drop of honey

    add a drop of water

mix it together so it forms a paste

    apply to face for 20-30

    then rinse with warm water

If you want a way to close your pores after(you dont have to)

smash a tomato and apply to face for 10-15 and then rinse with cold water

    Good Luck~!
    Clindoxyl gel works good :)

But you should go to the doctors and see what they prescribe for you.
I used to have cystic acne but my face is completely clear now. This is my lineup:

    1. an oral antibiotic like Tetracycline each night (500 mg.)

    2. Clean%26amp;Clear Continuous Control Cleanser

    3. Witch Hazel for toner (it's more natural, and works better than any other product out there.)

    4. If I have any zits, I wipe them down with a salycylic acid liquid (like Clean%26amp;Clear's Blackhead Clearing Astringent), and then cover them with a benzoyl peroxide cream. These two steps by themselves seem to be the best for already-existing acne.

    5. Clean%26amp;Clear Moisturizer (they have a bunch to choose from.)

    6. Once a week, I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub for Blemish prone skin, and then also once a week I use St. Ives Hydroxy Peel mask to also exfoliate. Just make sure to leave about three days in between the scrub and mask.

I use this at both night (which by the way, I put down a Kleenex so my face doesn't touch my pillow, and keep my hair pulled back), and in the morning, except in the morning I use Clean%26amp;Clear Daily Pore Cleanser instead since it's got little scrubbers in it that get rid of any dead skin cells that came off in the middle of the night. But for your skin, I would suggest using the Continuous Control cleanser for both night and day. This has worked for me so well, but everybody is different, so I don't know how well your skin will react. I would at least try the salycylic acid/benzoyl peroxide tip out of anything. The important thing to remember is that it takes about 2 weeks to a month of constant use to see results, so don't give up after just a week or two unless you have some sort of allergic reaction. Try it for around 3 weeks to a month and see if you experience any difference. Hopefully you will. Good luck.

is there a blue sqware sheet that you rub on your face and it whipes all the oil off your face and does it workAcne medication?
i had acne for the longest time. as you age it gets better and i tried alot of different stuff but the best thing is just a bar of soap. i took two showers a day, one when i woke up and one when i went to bed. that really helps keeping dirt and stuff off of your bed sheets. but once i started doing that stuff it really started to clear up. the soap does leave your skin uncomfortably dry but its the best thing i ever did concerning my acneAcne medication?
There are several different cleansing sheets available. To help with acne, keep your face clean as much as possible and avoid touching your face.
use proactiv. trust me. i stopped getting pimples.. for like, ever.

JUST DONT CLOG UP YOUR PORES OR SPREAD THE OIL. :D
Just wash your face often if it is too oily, and put a hypoallergenic moisturizer on. Also DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE,!!! This is how a lot of oil gets on your face.
Never tried that. It depends on how bad toy have acne, the dermotologist says to wash your face with witch hazel, you can buy this at Walgreens. Proactive dries the skin really bad.
    never tried, sorry.
I used that before and it didn't work so well

now I use Got 2B Clay Masque with avacado stuff. I haven't had any acne in months. Also, try to exfoliate your skin so the dead cells, and oils turn over. Then moisturize. I like to use Olay Clarify and Cleanse Daily Scrub. It has salicylic acid which is supposed to be good for exfoliation. I think any moisturizer with SPF works as long as there are no adverse reactions. Also, I only use the masque once a week and get a facial once a month.

I hope your acne clears up!

Lo'real makes face washes that work perfectly. Try those.

Whats the best acne medication or facial scrub to use?

my brother has really bad acne and weve used pretty much everything...even proactiv?Acne medication?
try soap, hand soap, heavy appliedAcne medication?
It happens. Deal with it. Although you might want to try blue light therapy. Basically its a blue light that you sit in front of...
not sure wish i could help though, when you get an answer, will you tell me?
Unfortunately, there's no magic cream. The most important thing is to practice good skin hygiene and keep your skin healthy(don't let it overdry). After you wash your face with soap I would use any typical benzoyl peroxide cream followed up by a face moisturizer that won't clog your pores. Do this 2- 3 times a day.
I tried everything until i created my own natural face scrub- sugar, oatmeal, and honey, and another one with avocado and egg whites...eeew . Sounds good for cookies( the oatmeal one) but its great on face. He should also carry stridex pads to wipe face after eating...grease contributes to more acne...it doesnt matter how much chocolate one eats, its all about what gets on your face- sweat build up, food, etc. Look up organic face scrubs and see what comes up. Organic is the way to go- who wats to put harsh ingredients on their already messed up face? try tea tree oil too!
I've had severe cystic acne for years. I tried proactiv too, but it didn't help. I'm now seeing an estitcian every week for chemical peels, but it costs $35 a week. (Its money I really don't have, but I'm so desperate I don't care anymore.) It's helped more than anything. The best thing I know to tell ya is to educate yourself as much as possible about what causes acne and treat it gently with as much natural stuff as you can. Tea tree oil is good for spot treatment. If you can find a better more cost effective solution, please fill me in.
idk about u, but Aveeno foaming cleanser works the best for me.
    acne free
Proactive sucks. I saw Vanessa Williams on ugly Betty and she still has real small fine bumps and zits on her face when the camera caught her at an angle just right. Proactive is for mild acne. The doctor can give him Tazerac creme 1%(.1) or Retina-A .1 They both work good but to me Tazerac is the bomb. It's almost like you can put it on your skin than 30 minutes later you can barely slide your finger and press your nose and all the whiteheads and black heads fall right out. Your skin is broke out at first for just a week then it's get clear. It is so worth it to go to a derm and request Tazerac .1%.Do it right away and in 3 weeks your brother will be so cute !
Well at a doctor's appointment, I asked about my acne and she said to use some medication prescribed by her. The medication you get from drug stores don't actually work. Go to your doctor and asked for a prescribed treatment. If the treatment does not work, then go to a dermatologist.
Try crest tooth paste or rubbing alcohol good luck they both worked for me! Tooth past:(rub on tooth paste leave on for 10 min and wash off-drys up black heads and white heads) Rubbing Alcohol:(pour on a cloth rub on and leave there-drys pimples and blackheads) hope i helped!!
try pevonia acne line is really good and their rosatia mask helps with circulation. also make sure to get acne facials 2 a month with extractions if it dosent hurt they are not doing a good job. trust me it will work
    biore
I use Clean and Clear face wash (I use it when I wake up and before I go to bed) and Clinique acne treatment (little teal bottle) for spot treatment. If these don't help I would suggest seeing a dermatologist before anything major (acne scaring) happens. I wish you luck.

    Acne medication?

I have had some acne problems for like the past few months and i want to know what are so creams or medications which do not require a prescription that work well?Acne medication?
I just posted this reply for someone else, but my response looks related to your dilemma, so I'll just copy and paste it here.

I used a generic acne treatment thingy that's kind of like proactiv but it didn't really do anything for me. Lots of people recommend proactiv or other such medications, but how effective it is really depends on your skin type.

I found that the Aveeno Clear Complexion Correcting Treatment works really well. It's about $13 or $14 for a 1 oz tube, but it's completely worth it. It can act like a moisturizer, meaning it's not harmful on the skin and the smell isn't nauseating or strong. It also helps reduce shine. I actually found this product after reading recommendations online and lots of people have shown before and after pics and their personal experiences with this product and the results pretty much look great for everyone. Give it a try.Acne medication?
try using pro-activ it just takes time to heal and remove your acne but it really works though..
    raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar

to open the pores and loosen dirt and grease from your face turn off the heat from a pan of distilled water, add 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar to a quart of the hot water. drape a towel over the pan and your head to steam clean your pores. take a cotton ball, dip in vinegar and pat over skin to remove loosened dirt. repeat 2 more times. then spray or dab on chilled vinegar and equal part of distilled water to close your pores and tone your skin. do twice weekly, also can use the chilled vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily.

    it is amazing ....

    raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar

use this apple cider vinegar for rejuvenating results. first, wash the skin in warm water, no soap. next, apply a wrung out hot water soaked cloth to the face for 3 minutes, then remove. soak thin cloth in warm vinegar water 2 tbsp per cup of water and again apply to face. cover the vinegar soaked cloth with a towel wrung out in hot water, relax and lie down for 10 minutes or more, if possible with feet elevated above head. remove both cloths and gently rub skin upwards with towel or small loofah face pad. this rub removes the hundreds of dry skin scales. you can repeat this weekly or as needed. your skin will look youthful and beautiful..

i also drink the vinegar, 1-2 tablespoons in water with honey in the morning..and i use the vinegar water as a toner 2 times daily..

    good luck

    Acne medication?

I'm considering using prescribed acne medication (I've tried all sorts of cleansers and eating healthy but I've still got acne). Can anyone recommend which medication to use? Please let me know how well it has worked for you, and if you had any side effects. Do I need to use it long term, or can I go on it until my acne clears up, then go off it again???Acne medication?
i've been battling acne since i hit puberty and have used several different types of acne meds. many times, you can just go see your family doctor who will give you basic acne meds. if this doesn't help, they'll refer you to a dermatologist. the times i've been perscribed meds, its always been in three parts, an oral antibiotic such as tetracycline or monocycline, a topical antibiotic - clindamycin, and retin A. these have always worked fairly well for me. right now, i'm on a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash, topical clindamycin and retin A and my skin is clear. the only side effect i've had is very very dry skin for the first week and a half. after that, your skin gets used to it and goes back to almost normal.

i've noticed that with my acne, if i don't use my perscriptions everyday, i get zits. this stuff doesn't cure acne for good, it just clears up your skin, so its more of a long term thing.

if you want to try something not perscription, consider trying proactive, i've used this before too and had great results.Acne medication?
in short, see Dans videos on how to get rid of acne for good at www.acne.org
Try Differin (gel, not cream, it's more effective). If it will not help you then try Accutane. It's more powerful but it's antibiotic. Ask your doctor what is better for you.

    Good luck!
See a GP or dermatologist to ask.

http://www.acne.org has all the prescription medication with tonnes of reviews and ratings from people. As you can see by reading there a bit, everything works different from everybody.

The main ones are antibiotics, birth control pills and Accutane. If your acne is mild they might start you on tetracycline antibiotics. Works for some people, not others. Side effects can be upset stomachs, sun sensitvity and yeast infections, and it sometimes comes back when you go off them. Birth control pills also work for some girls but not others. They can have side effects too. Accutane is very serious and for bad acne. With that one you just take it for a short time and then you are normally clear after you stop taking it.
Well if you're considering using prescribed medicine then it's probably best for your dermatologist to recommend which medication to use.

Dermatologists know what they are doing and don't go to 10 to 12 years of school for nothing.

A good source for reviews on acne medication is acne.org.

Most likely they will start with a prescription topical treatment and if that doesn't work they will try an antibiotic taken orally, sometimes combined with another topical treatment.

If that doesn't work they usually move up to Isotretinoin (accutane) or something else I don't know about.

    Acne Medication?

what is the best acne medication that actually works for all skin types? and how fast will it show results?

I dont have major acne, but if i dont treat it now, it will get worse. So i need to know what i can use?Acne Medication?
Ok, I bet I wasted atleast $200 bucks on facial cleansers and moisturizers that DONT WORK! Right now I'm using SpectroJel, it eliminates clutter of dead skin cells, oil, makeup, and leaves your skin SOOO glowy and smooth and moisturized, no grease! Oh yeah, and afterwards I just use Aveeno which has natural stuff to smooth out my skin.

    here's the webbie for SpectroJel:

    http://www.spectroskincare.com/

Only around $10, and its good because its basically multipurpose.

And for pimples and acne, use TEA TREE OIL, which you can find in the Body Shop, for around $9, dries up the pimple and heals the acne WOOT WOOT!Acne Medication?
I don't know of a medication that works on all people. Like foundation, it has to be custom tailored for your skin type. Personally, I use the Oxy acne line. It has 10% benzoyl peroxide so it's pretty effective on my oily skin. It can be pretty harsh on people with sensitive skin so you might have to find the benzoyl peroxide with a lower dosage in a different acne line.
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

P.S. I also know someone who used to suffer from severe acne for 14 YEARS and finally got rid of it completely. She's sharing her story at her site:

    Good luck.
For acne I use baby wipes. I know this sounds weird, but it helps, majorly. It clears the germs and cleans your face. Every night take a good warm, soapy shower and cleanse your face and then wipe over them with baby wipes when you get out!!
ugh I am having the same problem, but everything I try makes it worse...I have been using pure lavender oil recently, and that seems to be helping...........just a few drops on a q-tip directly on the problem area.
i use the mary kay velocity products and they seem to work really well!
    I use proactiv
Use urine thats what I use or piss

    Acne medication?

What type of medication should I look for in an acne treatment? Salycic acid or benozyl peroxide? Which one is better? Can I use both at once?Acne medication?
Benzoyl Peroxide is used for red, inflamed pimples. Salicylic acid is used for clogged pores (whiteheads and blackheads). I wouldn't suggest using both as it may lead to skin dryness and sensitivity.Acne medication?
I recommend benozyl peroxide...it's really effective...promise...i'm using proactiv for the past few months...you can also use that if you like but it cost 2,495.it's not that cheap yet effective..Neutrogena is also effective.

I also have acne-prone face so I became desperate to find effective products.I don't recommend Ponds bec. it only made my pimple worse. Pimples bring down ones confident...It's really a terible feeling*_*

Proactiv is a 3step solution and the last one have benozyl peroxide. They also have products with your other choice if you like.

Promise it's based from my desperate experience.
    benzoyl peroxide.

i am using it now. (prescribed by a doctor)

but i really insist u read the source below! and look up any other treatments for side effects.
    get both

and sulfur is a good acne medication too

i would recommend getting a salycic acid face wash

benozyl peroxide face lotion or toner

and a sulfuric acid spot treatment

    from least strongest to strongest:

    salycic acid

    benozyl peroxide

    sulfuric acid
salycic acid is for more sensitive skin, whereas benzoyl peroxide goes deep into the skin. You can use both at once if your skin gets oily really easily, but it might get dry if you put too much. Make sure to put on some sunscreen!
what ever u do dont use salycic aicd because it agrvates ur skin and makes it read and breakout even more.

    use benozyl peroxide.

its more healthy and better for ur skin.

Is it true that using acne medication actually makes your skin worse and that simply washing it with a gentle cleanser is better? opinions, please!Acne medication?
Acne medication generally works if you have a significant amount of acne. Gentle cleanser works if you have mild acne or none at all.

But it all depends on your skin type %26amp; the sensitivity of your skin! Most over the counter medicines %26amp; washes aren't too strong, and get mediocre results.

I recommend visiting a dermatologist if you're serious about acheiving great results, this is the best way to get a personalized group of products, and takes the guess work out of it!

I used some acne medicine twice, and my skin is so dry that it looks like my face is going to fall off. It's been about four days since I used it, and since then, I haven't used anymore, I've been washing my face with baby wash, and I've been moisturizing it constantly. Is it okay to apply moisturizer on top of acne medication?

My normal regimen is to apply either a benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid acne medication during the day, then apply jojoba oil at night to moisturize. Do I need to keep the acne stuff and the jojoba oil separate like I'm doing, or is it okay to put both on at the same time?Is it okay to apply moisturizer on top of acne medication?
Not at the same time. Moisterize after you've already rubbed in the acne treatment and waited for about 10 minutes.

The tricky part about acne is that the problem can

actually become worse if you overmedicate. That's

because acne medication can overdry the skin, causing

a boost in your skin's Sebum (oil) production. This

results in...you guessed it - more acne.

So what's the long term solution? Find gentler

solutions or even natural acne cures that won't

shock your body into more breakouts.

    Here's what I recommend...

    Glycerin based facewash:

Glycerin is gentler and will balance the

    pH levels in your skin.

    Antibacterial Soap:

For body acne, try using an antibacterial soap

to slowly dry out the skin. If your skin gets too dry,

switch to a moisterizing soap like Dove to

    counterbalance the effect.

    Don't Overwash:

Wash your face only 2 times a day max and gently

    pat dry with a towel.

    Moisterize:

Use a gentle face moisterizer if the glycerin based

face wash drys you out too much. I like using

    Aveeno moisterizers personally.

    Change Your Diet:

Eat almonds, fiber, drink lots of water and avoid

excess sugar intake. Food really does make a difference.

This is because the food you put into your body has a

direct effect on your Sebum (oil) production. By eating

the right foods, you'll minimize oily skin, thereby

    preventing breakouts.

    Egg Whites:

If acne medication isn't working or causing new breakouts,

try applying egg whites to the pimples at night before bed.

This natural remedy works by gently drying out the clogged

pores and clearing up the pimple.

    Oatmeal Masks:

One of my favorite natural skin conditioners is wearing an

';oatmeal mask';. The oatmeal with smooth your skin while

simultaneously absorb toxins and oils from your pores.

Try this for a few days straight. Wear the oatmeal mask

for 10 minutes, then wash off. You'll have a nice

    glowing complexion right after.

    Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice also dries up pimples and kills any bacteria

in the infection. The citric acid also balances your skin's

pH levels to prevent future breakouts.

    Honey:

Yes, despite your initial beliefs, honey is FANTASTIC for

skin care. Actually, you may notice on many moisterizers

that honey is an ingredient. Much like the lemon solution

above, honey balances the skins pH levels. Test out this

sticky remedy by dabbing pimples with honey and leaving it

on for 5-10 minutes. You can apply full honey masks to your

face but I prefer the oatmeal masks instead.

    They're less messy.

What pimple or acne medication is good and cheap?

i have like tiny tiny pimples on my forehead, which u can't c unless i point them out, but i'm self concious of them. p.s. i've used proactive and it didn't work. What pimple or acne medication is good and cheap?
Using a generic 2.5% or 5% benzoyl peroxide cream once a day will help tremendously. What pimple or acne medication is good and cheap?
I use the generic cleanser from Walmart. The orange face cleaner- generic for Neutrogena, and the pink astrigent. I wash my face with a little scrubby with the orange face wash at night in the shower. At in the morning, I wipe my face with a cotton round soaked with the astrigent. My face is very clear now. But if I ever do, get a pimple, I use the 10% benzole peroxide ointment on the pimple and it dries it out very quickly. I have that from Clean and Clear but that was before Walmart started selling the generic.

Generic stuff is just as good, but make sure you get a facial scrubby thing so it exfoliates your skin at the same time.
The best thing to do is to go to a dermatologist and ask their opinion. I used to have those small pimples, and within two years they turned into severe cystic acne. I have been on accutane for a month and its working WONDERS. Of course, it's not for minor acne like yours, but more severe like mine.

But anyhow, the dermatologist will know more than we do on here!
Depends how old you are but i'd suggest going to your doctor and asking to be put on Dianette, if its bothering you that much.

Its used to treat acne but it is also a contraceptive pill.

I use to suffer with bad spots on my face and back, now i never get any!! have got really clear skin.

I don't use any, but my sister has problems with acne and Biore works really well for her. She uses a lot of different kinds of their products: self foaming cleanser, pore unclogging scrubs, their facial strips, triple action astringent, etc. They seem to be working really well for her :]

I have been a chronic acne sufferer for years, I had nodules and pustules mostly. I can tell as I most of the time see them filled with yellow stuff... I popped my zit a lot (something I shouldn't have done, as it left me with scars). I saw this commercial on TV of this acne medication that I really need but I can't remember what it was called. The commercial went like this:

Teen was sitting in the middle of an aisle when a doctor walks up and tells him that acne was a medical condition and that he could get an OTC acne cream that was proven to destory acne. Side effects were dry or irritated skin etc. And you were supposed to avoid contact with the sun for a period of time.

Can using acne medication infrequently have the reverse effect?

I've used my sisters face scrub about 3-4 times in the last week (about every other day) and my acne has gotten MUCH worse. Usually I only have a one or two pimples, three at the most, but in the last two days I have had a huge breakout. No diet/excersize changes or any other significant lifestyle changes other than the face scrub.

The only conclusion I can come up with is that it says to use daily, and I used it about every other day. But that doesn't seem right. Can using acne medication infrequently have the reverse effect?
Yea, I know how you feel. When I was a teenager, some medications would only end up making my face worse. ProActiv was one of them, actually. Sometimes, over the counter meds don't provide much help. The only relief I got was using oral prescription meds after talking to my dermatologist. If you don't want to go that route, they can also prescribe topicals that are much better than what's out there on your local market shelf. I always wondered about diet and exercise. It really has no impact, IMO, in that I tried a lot of healthy binges. It would have a positive effect on my well-being, but wouldn't do much for my skin. Bottom line, if it is something that is bugging you so much that it interferes in your daily life or you are too self-conscious about it (which just causes even more stress, which doesn't help matters), it is best just to see a dermatologist ASAP and not rely on these over the counter medications. Can using acne medication infrequently have the reverse effect?
    Face scrub can increase acne.

Usually at the beginning of any new acne traetment, you will get worse before you get better. Just keep using it and give it time, you should improve.
I've had acne for quiet a few years now and I've been on about six different prescribed medication, two of which actually worked. I've learned that you can still get breakouts every so often even though you're doing something to treat it. If the face scrub is working properly, your acne should die back down for a while pretty soon. If it's really bad, go to the doctors and they will start you on some medication to treat the acne from inside out.
Scrubbing our faces with harsh chemicals can definitely do a number on our skin. I've used a lot of different face washes/soap and I always felt like I was experimenting w/ zero positive results. Who wants to always be experimenting on their face?! I've slowly been changing to more ';natural'; products. Products that don't have a ton of chemicals in them or man made synthetic products. Sounds weird but I've started using pure emu oil. 100% natural, no chemicals or fragrance. Take a peek at www.cmonbackacres.com and see what you think. It's pretty amazing stuff and I will never go back to buying store bought face products again or any bottled chemical a doctor hands out. I've also heard that flax seed helps w/ acne. Although I don't know a whole lot about that....yet. You could put that in yahoo answer's search engine and see what comes up.

So i just bought the 3 step acne treatment by Beyond Belief. I noticed that the day after i used it, i got another pimple on my face. so i was wondering, is acne supposed to get worse before it gets better. i wont be surprised if thats the case. Also, has anyone used Beyond Belief Acne Treatment? If so, what are your thoughts? Is acne supposed to get worse before it gets better when on acne medication?
Definitely acne do get worse before it gets better when on acne medication. What happens is those zits and pimple were there already but unnoticeable and when treatment started they come out all at once. I worked at a dermatology practice and we always advice our patients about that. About your products they must be a new product because I never heard of Beyond Belief. Is acne supposed to get worse before it gets better when on acne medication?
Honestly, the only thing that has worked for me 100% is laser treatment. I was totally skeptical at first. I had gotten laser treatment every other week for 6 months in 2005. I'm completely %26amp; totally clear ever since. It's amazing. Everything else is crap %26amp; a waste of money. The amount of money I've wasted trying out different products added up to more than the laser. I've gone to a dermatologist who prescribed me pills %26amp; gave me Retin-A which did NOTHING. Proactiv didn't work for me either. I hope you take my advice it's the only thing that works. Whenever I see someone with acne I feel like telling them =(
    Hi:

I have never used Beyond Belief. I know Pro Active is the best on the market for pimples/acne etc.etc.

It is not expensive and it does work. You can purchase from the TV or Malls.

Try using rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball morning and night.

You will be surprised at all the dirt coming off your face.

Rubbing alcohol is good because it removes the oil from the skin which causes pimples/acne. Also you need to watch your diet and not eat to much fried food or snacks. Eat more fruits it is better for your skin.
Ok, so the best acne stuff is mary kay! the bottles are orange and they work! i have no pimples at all and i sweat a lot and im about 13 and also it cleanses your face and gets rid of flaky stuff but it is kind of expensive but its worth it use it in the morning and before you go to bed
Not sure about that certain treatment but when I treated my acne I remember the instructions-thingy saying it could get worse before getting better. Read everything that came with that treatment, maybe it says something.

Good luck, treatment is worth the suffering :)

Does oral acne medication get rid of your current acne or just prevent new acne?

    Or does it do both?

I'm on an oral acne medication and I haven't been getting any new pimples, but its not getting rid of the current acne I have (I have mostly whiteheads). I've been on it for one week (its minocycline) I'm also using differin and a facewash so its not like im only using oral medicine but i just want to know how it works.

Also, what are the best oral acne medicines or what has worked for you?Does oral acne medication get rid of your current acne or just prevent new acne?
I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.

Can your face adapt to an acne medication?

I have been using Proactive for years, and it has done a wonderful job maintaining my acne under control. Recently, it seems like the proactive effects are wearing off. Can your face adapt to an acne medication? If so, does anyone have any advice on a stronger and efficient acne medication? Can your face adapt to an acne medication?
Yes, your body will eventually get used to acne medicine just as it does anything else. It has happened to me in the past and I would have to switch medications until that started not to work and at that point I would have to switch again. Your skin is getting used to the medicine in Proactive so it may not be the best thing for your face at this point. If it is getting worse than you would like it to be then there are other topical medications that can help. If it is really bad then I suggest seeing a dermatologist so they can give you the proper medication that will help. There has not been an OTC acne medicine that helped me, which is unfortunate. I had to see a doctor and ever since then my face has been looking good. I hope this helps! Can your face adapt to an acne medication?

Can putting on too much acne medication make your acne worse?

I use tretinoin (once a day), benzoyl peroxide (once/twice a day), clindamycin (twice a day), and cleaning pads in the shower (twice a day). Will all this just make my acne get worse? Can putting on too much acne medication make your acne worse?
It seems that the meds are appropriate. The only thing that concerns me is the cleaning pads twice a day. No need. All you require is to wash your face with a mild soap, unscented, in a bar form. Use you hands, do not scrub, ever. then just pad dry your face. You are doing something that will prevent scars on your face. you have a good doctor and he or she is on track. You should do fine. If the tretinoid causes any problems, let your doctor know. If you experience diarrhea, let him know (it could be the clindamycin). Otherwise, stick to you treatment, give it 6-7 weeks to see results. Remember, your doctor is not trying to fool you with quick fix treatments that never work. That is the treatment of choice. Can putting on too much acne medication make your acne worse?
What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

    Hope this helps :)
Yes! Too many chemicals and treatments will dry out your skin, which will only irritate acne further.
Yes this can make your acne worse. You ought to not use so many medicated cleaners without the OK from your doctor. The excessive cleaning will leave your skin quite dry and irritated. If you feel that your acne is that bad, go to a dermatologist and get medication to ease your acne, instead of constantly cleaning your face.

Plus things like changing your pillowcase every night help tremendously

What kind of Acne Medication works really good?

I have heard proactive is really godd but what other kinds are also good and get rid of acne. What kind of Acne Medication works really good?
First Q is how old are u and of course male or female and which nationality u have?

-The acne treatment depends on what kind of acne u have...we have many differen treatment for therm...

-First Step is avoid sun shine...u can use some protection cream which has the SPF over than 25%...then if u are a smoker have to decrease the number of them....decrease the fat food u take(oily.fast food.chips...)....drink enough water (more than 2 lits a day)....wash ur face with no bacter soap(at least twice a day)...if u are a girl dont use bad brand of make up stuff and wash ur make up as soon as possible(even if u use removal cream ).....if u start any mild sport like areobic or even jogging it will make ur skin better....take good nutrition and vegetable....

-secound we have some locolize solution ...they are antibactrial like erythromycin 1% and ....u can use them once every 2 nights on ur acnes(avoid 2 cm around ur eyes and 2 cm around ur mouth including ur nasolabial lines)....

-third u can use systemic antibiotics like tetracyclin or doxi by the order of ur G.P or dermatologist....

-if non of them work or u have cystic acne with scar u have to use a drug calls Actane its full of Vit A , it has his own order and u just can have it by a dermatolog ...

-we have some other treatments like Microdermabration(its usefull for black spots),pilling(deep and superficial) for make the acne and the scar of them goes....

its better if u visit a dermatologist.

    Good Luck
